Hand in hand with state-of-the-art robotics: BERG optimises its quality control with cobot

From now on, we will be using a collaborative robot (cobot) for loading the optical shaft measuring machine we use for quality control. The compact robot arm independently transports the test objects to the measuring machine, positions them accurately and thereby ensures reliable, precise and continuous 100 % check of the manufactured components. This will increase the efficiency and reliability of the testing process.

“The use of this cobot is an important step toward greater automation and demonstrates the way we design our processes to be innovative and forward-looking,” explains Markus Brockmann (Head of Quality Management). “As this has allowed us to significantly reduce the time our staff spends on measurement, our employees now have more time for quality assurance during production. This, in turn, means potential faults can be discovered and eliminated even faster.”

And the cobot offers yet another advantage: At peak capacity, it reduces our employees’ workload, thereby helping to keep our workflows stable. Even in the event of capacity bottlenecks (e. g. absences due to illness), it makes sure that important testing processes continue uninterrupted.

Its flexibility and its ability to complete repetitive, monotonous tasks make the cobot the perfect addition to our human team. But that is not the only benefit to our employees: The additional training courses required offer them an opportunity for personal development.

Integrating the cobot into our quality control workflow constitutes an important automation upgrade for BERG. This step highlights our power to innovate and our aim of maintaining high quality standards for our customers through use of state-of-the-art technology.
