Power operated chucks according to the BERG wedge bar principle have been available from BERG Spanntechnik for more than 30 years. Optimisation of this functional principle permits extremely high clamping forces with maximum open centre capacity and minimum influence of the rotational speed on the clamping force. These advantages have now been transferred to the small construction sizes with a chuck outer diameter < 100mm for applications in highly productive machines.

The Hydrodock clamping system is used as a clamping system for machine tool interfacing with exchangeable equipment. The effective self-locking feature of the system guarantees high mechanical rigidity of the interface combined with maximum safety. Therefore no permanent pressure is required after the clamping process. Such clamping systems permit an admissible retaining force of up to 500kN after clamping.
