The installation declaration (extended form of the former conformity declaration) will be an immediate part of the BERG deliveries, which are to be considered as incomplete machines.

2. Assembly instructions in accordance with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC
Appendix VI
According to the standard, the assembly instructions for incomplete machines should specify how the partial machine is to be correctly integrated with other parts to form a complete machine without impairing the safety of the fitter. This very general definition does not meet the complex requirements of our products or those of our customers. Therefore we will continue (as has been the usual practice in our operating manuals) to specify instructions and information concerning the operation of the products in the higher-level machine.

3. Technical documents in accordance with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC
Appendix VII Part B
The incomplete machine (the BERG product) is accompanied only by the installation declaration and the assembly instructions until it is fitted into the complete machine. The technical documents in accordance with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC Appendix VII Part B must be prepared, stored and updated in the company.

This data is exclusively made available to individual national authorities on request. Our customers are not given access to these documents! They represent our know-how, which we do not disclose! The organization behind the technical documents is described in detail in our Quality Management System.

 

On request, we will specifically support our customers with the preparation of machine documentation and the attendant risk assessment. This always requires precise specification of the BERG product and mutual coordination of which information is specifically required. An agreement to maintain strictest secrecy is obligatory in this case.

Incomplete machines are intended to be integrated into another machine. They are not given a CE sign.

In future, the installation declaration and assembly instructions are to be a material part of every delivery of an "incomplete machine" to our customers. Given 90 years of clamping tool history at BERG with many thousands of delivery positions per year, it is inevitable that problems will occur. We are prepared for providing a prompt solution to the problems which our customers may experience. Our objective is and will remain, to fully meet the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.
